I've decided, based on the preponderance of evidence from the show, to ignore the "speed of plot" development above - in the series, going from one world to another took days. If a Firefly can cross the entire 'Verse in 10 hours, with no more pressing emergency than getting Fanty and Mingo their money, it makes many other things not make much sense.
I'll assume that maybe getting socked in the jaw by Simon may have rattled Mal a bit, and he was too angry to differentiate between hours and days.

I was thinking Bernie would be funnier, but he's sort of tied up with waiting for Kagome's response. Had Kal been around to have that conversation, it might have been funnier. Bernie would likely be more shocked and appalled than Jessup was. If Spaulding had any reason to go to the Bridge, it could have been comedy gold...
Kalzazz has been away for about 9 days now - and I'm hesitant to have the Alliance arrive while Kagome is unaccounted for. That said, Power in the 'Verse will be on indefinite hiatus until Kal gets back.
Kal hasn't mentioned anything about his absence backstage. I suspect it has to do with his graduate studies. I think it is amazing he is here as much as he is already.
I figured that might be the case. Hopefully he'll be back someday soon. I may try to revive the recruiting drive - failing any movement there I may just post a synopsis of the scenario for the remainder of Act I, Act II, and Act III for the use of the gaming public, then call it a wrap.

I hope Kal does come back and/or we get a couple of new recruits. Sadly, such is the nature of pbp games. Even Dr. Tam may not be able to keep this one alive.
Sorry, no, it is just me being an abject failure as a roleplayer as usual. I cannot do chargen and backstories and things, and gah, so I think maybe not looking at the site will make me more creative and figure it out, or that I will get struck by a lightning bolt of inspiration, but no . . . its been over a month and I still have nothing

Anyway, Lee or Rerun or whoever can answer for me, I have no bloody clue . . . my personal thoughts on what Kagome's reasons were was something more toward family pride and professionalism and much more away from political activism
I'll leave it up to you - I can write something based on our discussions during character creation and post it as a Bernie POV, or I can go and edit out the question. Either's good by me.
